What You Need to Know About 5.1 Computer Speakers

5.1 Computer Speakers can greatly enrich your multimedia experience when playing games or watching TV or movies or other videos on the computer – and, of course, it makes listening to music better too!

5.1 Computer Speakers are, simply, a surround sound speaker system optimized for your computer. The 5.1 means that you have a front speaker, two front corner speakers, two back corner speakers, and a subwoofer. I love my 5.1 computer speakers for watch movies and playing games because you can hear everything and when some form of media takes advantage of the panning between speakers (panning is when a sound or several different sounds may come from specific speakers to make it sound like a noise from the movie or game is coming from behind you, or to your left, or whatever). For example, play Call of Duty of Cyris on my computer was a million times better once I got my 5.1 speaker system because I could hear people creeping up behind me and every other little sound that comes from the game in much better detail.

When you are looking to buy computer speakers I would suggest looking at Logitech first, brand-wise, because they make a really great set of 5.1 computer speakers which sounds amazing and sells for under $100 dollars! This is the same set that I own, and love, and which many of my friends use too, simply because they have great reviews because they sound so great and the price is incredible. I’ve been using mine for a couple years now and they have always worked great and sound amazing. You could get louder speakers, but for the price, this is a great set. Other factors you should consider when looking to buy surround sound computer speakers are the brand, price, decibel level (how loud they get) and the computer connections they use. Many computer speakers will require you to get an upgraded sound card for your computer to really take advantage of them. If you don’t want to do that, you may want to consider something more simple like a set of stereo speakers, or 2.1 computer speakers which is stereo with a subwoofer (and a subwoofer can make a huge difference).
