A Brief Overview of Network Security...

Wireless internet connection is a very sure way of browsing the internet from any location possible in the office or home. Indeed you can let a whole number of users to access the internet by putting computers and other internet devices at any location. The setting up of this system however requires some very vital network security measures. It is good therefore that we examine this issue in greater detail.

The general misconception among people is the fact that when you have a wireless network security system in place, it is not really necessary. However this should not be the case especially if you access the internet. For those who even access the internet for a very short time, there are numerous intruders that are always on hand to invade your computer and the wireless network you are using. One of the things you should do with regards to your network security is to create a system restore point on your computer system even before you change some of the default settings on the wireless equipment. This way you would be able to get back to the original system settings even before any of the changes were made.

There is no doubt that the common features of having a secure wireless network security is that there is a reduced susceptibility of identifying theft. This is because an unprotected computer would bring out all information stored on it when using a wireless internet connection. There are also a number of identity thieves just looking around for an unprotected wireless network from which they can steal any sort of vital data. It is also possible for people to steal some of your bandwidth when using wireless internet connection. When you have a secure network security in place, you would be able to identify such users so that they can be easily blocked.

One of the ways of creating a wireless network security system is to change the administrators default password of your wireless device. There are intruders who are aware of this and can therefore invade your default settings if this is not changed. The access points and routers always have a default password which can be easily changed if need be. Another option is to ensure that you alter the encryption mode for the wireless network. This should be turned on so that it would hide any kind of data exchanged over the network.

What Happens if My Network ISN'T Secure??

A lot of bad things can happen if you do not properly secure your network. Your online activities can be spied on, hackers can steal your information, and at the very least you will suffer from slower internet and a laggy computer.

In the video below, a Hacker is showing off his skills as he uses a Trojan virus named "Bifrost" to intrude and spy on his victims. If you skip to around the 3:30 mark, you can see that he is accessing the web cam on his victim's computers to spy on them!
